WW1 Lee Enfield SMLE Short Mag

WW1 and WW2 British Short Magazine Lee Enfield Bolt action rifle - the Classic SMLE (Short, Magazine, Lee-Enfield) in good condition and deactivated with full working action and stunning woodwork. It quickly proved to be the finest rifle of World War 1 and It also had double the magazine capacity of any other weapon of the period - when you had a battalion of Tommies where each man was trained to fire at least 30 aimed shots a minute, it is no wonder that many germans thought they were under machine gun fire. A British classic. If you are looking for details and information on a specific soldier or relative during WW1 the follow this link.

Deactivated Long Lee Enfield by BSA complete with kit:

Deactivated Long Lee Enfield .303 by BSA complete with Bayonet and scabbard:

The Long Lee Enfield - the first really recognisable modern bolt action rifle, it was the replacement for the Martini .577, offering 10 .303 rounds in the detachable mag, though they were usually loaded by stripper clip from the top. This one is made by BSA (Birmingham Small Arms) and undated but the features out it at 1900 and the butt plate is marked if you want to sit down with a couple of reference books you could figure out its history. The rifle is excellent original condition and even retains its bolt shield (for keeping out dirt), great period woodwork and good finish to the metalwork and it has its front volley sight intact but has lost its rear. As you would expect it strips, cocks and dry fires and comes complete with deactivation certificate.

Canadian Ross Rifle dug up relic:

Dug up Canadian Ross Rifle relic:

Holy cr*p - Canadian Ross straight pull rifles are the rarest of WW1 deactivated guns, to find a dug up is just unheard of - they were great on the range but not suited to the mud of the trenches and were replaced by P14`s and SMLE`s as soon as they were available, so this one would have served very early in WW1 and spent a long, long time in the ground - found in the Ypres battlefield.

Early WW1 Canadian Ross straight pull rifle, just so, so rare:

Dug Up British SMLE - relic:

British WW1 SMLE, dug up in Northern France:

Here`s a really good classic example of a dug up rifle - a British SMLE, mag in place, complete action locked solid with time and rust, frozen in time when it was dropped in mud somewhere near flanders according to the collector we got it from. The woodwork look like period parts that have been added, though the rest is original including the bayonet which does fit on the rifle.
