Mauser Bolt Action Rifle K98

From the introduction of the Mauser Bolt System with less successful G88 at the end of the 19th Century, the German WW1 G98 and then the shortened K98 in WW2 proved to be rather good. Though here at real-gun.com we may have a preference for the Lee-Enfield, there is no doubting just how well made and engineered these rifles are. The Mauser action is the most widely copied bolt action type in the world with almost all sporting rifles are based on the Mauser action. They are known for their strength, reliability and accuracy - the Kar 98 served the Wehrmacht with distinction in WWII and are still used today by target shooters.

Please check out the following examples:

WW2 Belgian K98 1938 with sling:

Deactivated WW2 1938 Belgian FN Mauser 98:

Now her`s another Mauser that you don`t see very often - an early WW2 FN (Fabrique Nationale) Mauser 98. Made from the early 30`s these were a development of the G98, witha simplified bolt assembley and a much better cartidge feed (swings away from the base like a Mosin rifle) so you can charge from top or bottom, plus takes an extra couple of rounds. This one seen plenty of action, the woodwork has several armourers repairs (well done period stuff) and we should point out the action is rather stiff, but it strips, cocks and dry fires and comes with deactivation certificate.

Deactivated 1917 German Mauser G98:

Deactivated 1917 G98 complete with sling:

Fair to say this WW1 deactivated G98 has been through the wars - metalworks showing its age and the woodwork has evidence of repair and bashes/scars, though we really like the dark tone and patina, its a personal choice, comes with a sling, looks like an older repro. Strips, cocks and dry fires and has correct deactivation certificate.

WW1 1910 German G98 by Karl Gustov Werks:

Deativated 1910 dated G98 by Karl Gustov, full matching numbers - everywhere!:

Probably the most original early G98 we have ever seen outside of a museaum - a 1910 dated G98 by Karl Gustov with full matching numbers, on everypart you could imagine, very neatly done in the factory as fakery is easily spotted. Condition is also really good, especially for the age, loverly woodwork (obviously matching to the gun) and has a strange butt disk we have not seen before, might need to get the text books out for that one. Cocks and dry fires and has correct deactivation certificate.

1910 deactivated G98 by Karl Gustov, full matching numbers on everything, one of the best examples we have ever seen:

Deactivated WW1 1910 German G98az carbine:

Deactivated WW1 1910 German G98az Carbine, mostly matching numbers:

Now this is another rare piece of Mauser history - a 1910 dated G98az Carbine - issued to cavalry and mountain troops, its a shorter, lighter version of the G98 and was the blueprint for the late war Storm trooper carbines that were adopted in 1917. This ones certainly showing signs of age, plenty of patina to both wood and metalwork, although its matching numbers on everything apart from the bolt - even down to the receiver screws, barrel bands and woodwork, so its remained remarkably intact. Latest spec so the bolt cycles but does not cock and has correct deactivation certificate.

1888 dated German G71 Mauser, live obsolete caibre:

Now this is rare - we are all used to seeing K98`s and earlier G98`s, maybe the pre war G88 with the metal barrel sleeve, but here`s the daddy of all Mauser action rifles, the G71. This was the first Mauser action rifle designed by Paul Mauser to be succsesfully produced, sold and used and all Mauser action rifles share there DNA with this model (thank god we were working on the Lee Metford design...). This ones in good period condition, great woodwork, excellent metalwork for the age and is regimentally marked on the butt (down to you to research that one...) and is full live working order as its obsolete calibre so no license required
